dumbest generation

Viewing Dr. Bauerlein's video and position on how our generation is possibly the dumbest. I, much like a majority of my generation, disagree with this statement. The technology we use today is part of our society. Just as the generations before us grew up having things they did for fun we have the same but just higher advances in technology. This doesnt qualify us as dumb. Sure we dont use this technology all of the time for the right reasons but sometimes we do. Whose to say that if given the technology we have, older generations would use it for research and to better their academic knowledge at the age we are now. I think they would do the same thing that we do today which I guess qualifies us as dumb people.

hook video

When I watched the video on  her stance on rap, it caught my attention. I think she looks at it too much in a negative way. They do portray women in sexual way but so do many other programs and companies. I disagree with the stereotype that comes along with rappers from someone who doesnt see anything but the sex, guns, and drugs. I used to think the same thing until I actually listened to rap fully and understood the skill it takes to put stuff together like that. Yes, it does have explicit content but what doesnt anymore?

Culture Jam

Starting this book, I can see where the author has a point but technological advances are the way our society has grown up. We've always had these things so we are used to them. By grouping all of our society together and saying that it is destroying our appreciation for nature is a bit of overkill. Not everyone in our society is like the examples the author uses. Personally, I think its up to the individual in how much they use the technologies available today. The technology and the way are society is today is too big of a task to be able to change it. Too much of our economy is involved and a lot of organizations that would never let it happen. Also,a passage that caught my attention though was the one showing the millions of people that have disorders in our country. Are other countries like this or is this just in our society? It just came as a shocker that a great percentage of our country is that messed up.
